Maybe it's...

Teething? Last night was strange. Of course it happend when we had overnight guests, isn't that always the case?

I brought Carson upstairs to give him a bottle and put him to bed and as soon as I put him down in his crib he started screaming. A different screaming then I had ever heard before. I always put him in his crib awake, but he usually just babbles and talks to himself and then falls asleep. So I picked him up, and then a few minutes later I tried to put him down and the same thing happened. So Jeff took him, put him to sleep in his arms and then put him down.

11pm - the same screaming. Jeff picked him up and calmed him down. I gave him some Tempra. It sounded like a painful scream and he kept pulling his knees up to his chest. I thought maybe gas? This was totally new to us. I can honestly say it's been a good 5 months since he woke up outside his normal sleeping hours. He went back to sleep.

4am - the same thing. The screaming. The sobbing. The shoulders shaking. I picked him up, was up with him about an hour. He started to sound better, he was laughing when I put him back in his crib. He fell asleep and woke up at 6:30.

Today he's been fine. He's been happy, we went for a run in the stroller, he played with his cousins, he ate breakfast and went for a 2 hour nap. Then we went to the park for an hour and he's back in bed now. Maybe it's teething? He has his first diaper rash. It's not that bad, but it's red and splotchy. Poor little guy. I think I can see his two front teeth behind the skin, they haven't broken through yet but I think I can see them. I guess only time will tell.

Also, I gave him some naturally flavoured soft cheese after his veggies at lunch time. I can easily say they were a hit. I'm also to start yogurt, soft cheese and custard (what???) at 8-9 months so I gave him some. He LOVED it.

Poor little guy! Good call on the Tempra. Maybe try baby Advil the next time it happens? I'm thinking if its teething, the ibuprofen might help--plus it lasts for 8 hours. 8)

Also, the knee to tummy thing, gas, or any chance he was a wee constipated?

But with the butt rash, probably teething.

Fingers crossed for you it was just the one night. Watching babies cry like that is just awful! Poor little guy!
