I'm a sucker

I just put up a whole new slew of pictures in my office of Carson. Now there are 23. I just love being able to look at his adorable little face whenever I want.

Play date!

Here are pictures from Friday night's picnic with a good friend and her super cute daughter. We had a fun time at Mooney's Bay, and maybe next time they will both want to do the same thing :)

All of a sudden I have this toddler, and the playdates are for HIM instead of for ME!

My favourite one is the last one :) AND, seeing as I still can't take great pictures... I was quite ecstatic when I got into my car this morning to come to work and Jeff left the registration card for the camera course he signed me up for in September! Happy Anniversary!

Almost on vacation!

Carson had a great weekend with his extended family. Due to extenuating circumstances, Jeff and I had to be away alot of the weekend and we couldn't bring him with us. So Saturday night he spent the night at ZiaNadia and Uncle Sean's with Sofia. They had a great time, played outside, had a great sleep, played with their cats, chased each other around, went to the park... and Carson was a superstar. Even though he's never been left alone with Nadia and Sean, he went to bed without a peep, was a bit quiet in the morning when he got up, until crazy Sofia was awake and then they just started playing together and didnt stop until we picked him up the next morning.

Then it was off to Grandma and Nono's where he picked flowers, went for a walk in his barefeet, played cars, then for a lonnnng nap, and when he woke up Sofia was there! So they chased each other, went swimming, had Nono's homemade soup for supper, had a bath and then off to bed for another marathon sleep (well, until 5 at which point Grandma had to get up and sleep on the floor beside him, where they both slept till 7).

So Grandma is bringing him straight to daycare this morning and hopefully I will be home at some point tonight so I can squeeze the lights out of him. I miss my little boy something terrible! Jeff and I talked about him so much while we were away from him. I love that he's so resilient and easy to adapt to changes around him or it would have made this weekend that much harder.

I have 4 more days of work and then first thing Friday morning we'll get in the car and drive to see Gram-Grammie in New Brunswick. We'll stay the night there and then continue on to PEI for the next two weeks. We are sooooooooooooo looking forward to it.

Good way to end the weekend

Carson woke up early from his nap, so I was determined to get to a little farm near Carrie and Rob's to show him the animals (as soon as I asked if he wanted to see the animals, he came over to me, grabbed my hand and walked me to the front door saying animo animo (we've never been to a farm so i wonder what he was thinking we were doing?). Anyways, of course, it started to rain on our way there. So we drove to see a house that Jeff is drooling over (I can't get past the "living in the country" feeling). Then we stopped in at Carrie and Rob's. We ended up staying for supper and then we all went for a Dairy Queen treat!

Pool party!

These are his cousins (L to R: Ethan, Grant, Sofia, Carson, Maya, Isabelle)

Carson was the only one not super happy about sitting all together on the swing. It's kind of funny, the pictures start out with him quite upset, then he's okay for a little bit and then he gets mad again. But besides the picture taking, we had a great afternoon!

Doc appt

Weight: 27 lbs 10 oz (this is with a wet diaper, while holding a full sippy cup of milk and a truck), so I'm thinking it's like 27 lbs (seeing as the sippy cup holds 10 oz of milk...)

Height: 33 1/4 inches (but we all know how accurate the measurements of height are! When they are two they stand up to get measured which will be way more accurate)

He screamed. And he screamed. This was just when the doctor was examining him. It's never been this bad. I think he screamed louder then I've ever heard him. It was heartbreaking. I got the immunizations too, I voiced my desire to stagger them but asked his opinion and he said it doesn't really matter, there's no data to show it's beneficial to stagger them. Plus, he said no more needles until he's 4. So I figured if I got them done today, I don't have to worry about them for another 2+years. He screamed when he got the needles. I think it was more the nurse then the actual needle though (she was super nice, I just mean the fact that a stranger was coming that close to him, same with the doctor).

He's growing well, perfect growth curve, perfect vocabulary for his age, I answered "yes" to all the questions asked (without lying, I promise!).

Thank goodness no more appts for a while... until he turns 2! Which I suppose isn't all that far away....

When is it TOO much

Carson loves his naptime and bedtime. We always ask him to pick two cars or books to bring to bed with him.

Today he seemed to be stalling a bit, so when I asked him to pick out what he wanted to bring to bed with him, he picked the two biggest things he could carry.

I'm also proudly reporting that he can identify a square, a heart and a star in his shapes book. Wednesday I took him outside in the rain and he looked at the woman across the street and said umbrella. Loud and clear. It's amazing how many words he can say, and every day one just pops out. He's picking up on everything we say these days.

Thursday morning he woke up crying and when Jeff went into his room he was pointing at his change table saying bum bum bum. Sure enough he had a diaper full of bad stuff!

Just to mark-ish the date

When Carson had the flu, we didn't give him any milk for the day. Thus, no bottle. The next night, he didn't ask for it, so we didn't give it to him. Same with the following two nights.

There goes my stress about how/when to take away his bottle!

Until last night. He was sobbing for his bottle. So I went and filled it up for him, he was so happy, which made me happy.

Tonight after exhuasting himself at Chapters with the Thomas the Train table, he didn't want his bottle again. I figure I'll let him call the shots and let us know when he does and doesn't want it. Like everything else, he will wean himself off when he's good and ready. I just don't like seeing 2+ year olds with bottles hanging out of their mouths (my feeling about soothers as well, thank goodness Carson only took one for about a month).

Blah weekend

The first nice weekend so far this summer and we spend it with the flu! Jeff had it Friday night, I had it Saturday night and Carson had it today. He spent almost 19 of the last 24 hours sleeping (normally he sleeps around 14 hours a day).

Here are a few pictures from Canada Day....

And some from today....

We got him this Sand and Water table (50% off, I love sales!) and he loves the boats. If you ask him to show someone the boats he beelines for the table and holds up a boat very proudly!

And here's a video of him blowing a kiss. I wish I knew how to edit videos to cut out certain parts. He doesn't perform well in front of the camera, he gets shy (just like his mommy!)

Sweet

Carson blew me kisses when I left the house this morning with the smacking of the lips and all!
