Roots of Empathy

Yesterday was our second Roots of Empathy meeting and I remembered my camera! Here's the big poster board on the first floor of the school right outside the office.

Pictures pictures pictures

Probably Carson's favourite place in the whole world. A pile of dirt at Auntie Carrie and Uncle Rob's house, he doesn't make it into the house without playing in it first.

One day I snuck in to peek on Carson during his nap and found him asleep in his fort (now a permanent structure in his bedroom, don't think he's ever going to let me take it down)

Saturday morning in the Gallant household!

Making the same face?
Grandma loves his jowels, so I thought I'd get a snap of them.

Four months

The time is flying by much too quickly. Every day you do something you didn't do the day before. You smile, you laugh, you pout (you have the same bottom lip that your brother has, that apparently, comes from your mom), seeing your brother always puts a smile on your face.

You are such a sweet baby, rarely fussing and always happy to be held by any of your numerous admirers. You do love your mommy though, just like Carson does. And she loves the both of you more than you know.

At 4 months old, you weigh 14 lbs and 14 oz, and your 24.5 inches tall! And even though I didn't need reassurance, the doctor says you are perfect.

Santa Claus parade

If I was a good mom and brought my camera last night, you would have seen

Carson's face light up when the first firetruck came down the street
Carson back up two steps when Curious George tried to get a high-five (knowing full well Petra would have followed him for the whole parade!)
Carson standing smushed between two older boys hanging onto the barricade, his nose just barely reaching the top trying to get a look at the parade
Beckett wrapped up tightly on his mom, fast asleep for the whole parade
Carson standing, waiting so patiently for the parade to start
Carson waving at the trucks, cars, motorcycles
Carson looking at me saying "Mommy did you see that ambulance?"
Carson in the back of the car with his legs crossed and hands clasped after the parade talking non stop about what he saw

We had a super busy weekend, Beckett met lots of new relatives and Carson was reunited with his Grampie, Nana, Auntie Sam, Clayton, Auntie Mean Mean and Gruncle Barry.

Normally I would have snapped pictures of all the fun with the family, the nature walk we went on, shaking the milkweeds to make it snow, playing in the tree fort, going out for breakfast, watching Ethan play hockey...but we were so busy that I forgot to take pictures. All weekend long.

So instead, I took a few pictures of Beckett in his new favourite place - the exercauser!

First school pictures

How freaking old does he look here?

I have to say I'm a tad annoyed - they said to wear solid colours, so I picked out the only solid colour shirt he has. And all the other kids were wearing tons of colours. I had so many cuter tops then this one! It kind of makes him look like he's in a private school.

Halloween!

Halloween this year was fantastic. Carson got right into and followed Jaeda and Justen from door to door like a seasoned trick or treater. Their little cousin, Anika, had the same costume as Carson so we got lots of "are they twins". Not twins. Just two adorable little two year olds.

They were all so excited to get out and wouldn't stand still for pictures, so here is the best that I could do.

Beckett is already the ignored second child. I didn't even get him a costume! I knew he'd just sleep in his wrap the whole time so I didn't even bother.

After about 5-6 houses, Carson got distracted. He kept going, but it was only because the other kids were doing it. He would have been happy to just walk the streets and look at all the houses and all the people. But he trekked on! The kids lasted for about 20-25 houses and then it got windy. It got cold. So we went hom - very successful night!
