First step?

Carson took his first step - perhaps more of a stumble...... tonight! Grandma's house is magical, he does all kinds of things that he doesn't do at home.

Trying to turn on the fan.. and he figured it out.

Laughing with Grandma.

Daddy is SO proud

Like I said, tonight we were having a steak dinner. I never really follow the rules when it comes to what to feed Carson and when. Sure I try and respect the big things like fish and peanuts... but other then that, whatever I think he'd like (sugar aside) I give him some. He always wants what we are eating these days... so who are we to deny him a big steak bone?

To say he enjoyed it would be an understatement. He chewed on that bad boy for a good half hour, he cried when I took it away and he ended up being a huge greaseball like Grampie Walker! He certainly put on a show for everyone too!

I can't help myself

Honestly, he is the CUTEST thing these days that all I want to do is show his pictures to everyone. He's so fricking funny too. And smart. He knows where the fan, ball, truck, water (sippy cup), book, upstairs, downstairs, grandma, nono and mommy and daddy are. It's amazing. He plays catch (or rather toss), he crawls onto my lap to read a book, he gives KISSES (to me! I just realized that yesterday and he came towards my mouth with his mouth wide open and what did I do? Cried. Cause I didn't know he could do that) and he snuggles again. He lays his head down on both Jeff and I's chest and snuggles. It's the best feeling in the world. And he plays. Boy does he ever play.

I love it

When he uses my leg to pull himself up into a standing position, puts one arm on either leg, his head between my legs and tries so hard to climb up me because he wants up.

It's the cutest thing ever.

Carson crawling upstairs is pretty cute too. He's been crawling up the stairs since he was 9 months old... I tell ya, we are in for a world of trouble with this little guy!

The last thing Jeff said

Before he left was "Now Carson don't do anything new while I'm gone..."

So why is this new? Crawling isn't new to him, he's been moving (starting with the inch worm) since he was about 7 1/2 months and he's gotten up to a pretty good pace and can move freely around the house. But he still does it on his stomach. I can't remember the exact statistic but the majority of babies who crawl do not crawl in the typical fashion. They drag legs, slide on their bum, wiggle etc... and Carson's method of crawling makes him like he's going on a recon mission - he drags himself forward with his arms and uses his leg to shimmy himself. But yesterday he started crawling in the "normal" way. He doesn't do it all the time, only if the distance is short enough. If you put something about 2 feet away he'll crawl this way. Otherwise, he'll drop back onto his stomach. I think it may have something to do with the fact he feels more comfortable grabbing something if he's on his stomach. At the end of the video you can see him drop onto his tummy right as he reaches out to grab the ball. It's cute as hell though, I must admit.

GO SENS GO

It's 9:30am and Carson is down for his second nap (I can hear him blowing raspberries and squealing through the monitor, but he's tired, I can hear him rubbing his face into the blankets). We went for a run (yay 7K in 50 minutes) this morning, he took a nap in the stroller, I pulled dandelions, we played under the gazebo. During his nap, I'll shower, we're going to go to Bayshore and pick up some Sens attire for Jeff and I (jerseys are too hot these days) and then after our afternoon nap we are meeting Rob, the twins and my mom for dinner (it's Rob's 40th today and Carrie is out of town on training). And then it's home in time to watch Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals! Mom's babysitting Wed. night so we can go to Elgin St (right now known as the Red Mile) for Game 2 - everyone around here is pretty excited about it! Jeff is going to Game 3 and we are both going to Game 4 (tickets were my birthday present and our anniversary present, they weren't cheap). Jan and Erin are coming in from PEI so they can come with us too. I can't wait to see them - they are here from Sunday till Thursday.

I've decided that during the summer, in this heat, it's much better for him and I to go out for a long walk (or run) first thing in the morning. I loved going to Strollercize, but it's at 10:15 and on those 30 degree days it's just too hot at that point. Plus, I'm an early bird so if I'm up, I may as well be out!

Carson fell asleep on daddy's lap last night

Carson ready with mom to go for a jog

For some reason I can't post video on here anymore - so here's a link to Carson eating. He loves trying to blow bubbles while eating now. While it's cute, I can see it getting really messy in the not-so-far-future.

I laughed so hard I cried...

Not sure why the video is so dark, must check the settings. Enjoy!

I just have to gush....

About how wonderful our son is. He slept from 9-3 last night, he had a three hour nap this morning and I just put him down for his afternoon nap.

He's SO fricking cute. He smiles, laughs, coos, makes a ton of noise and recognizes his mommy, daddy and grandma now. He kicks his feet when he hears one of us and gets excited. He lies in his crib and looks at his mobile while I clean up his room or do a few things upstairs.

He definitely lets me know when he's tired, he yawns, rubs his eyes and makes the saddest whimpering type noises when he nurses - he only cries for a reason so when he whimpers/cries I know he's just tired.

I love him. to bits.

Edit: it's 7:30, I gave Carson his bath at 6:45, fed him and now he's asleep in his crib (I'm taking advantage, so I crawled into bed, with laptop and a jug of water and the TV is on) It's crazy, he doesn't cry when he goes into his crib. He entertains himself and then falls asleep. I normally rub his bum/back for a bit just to soothe him, I walk away and he's happy. Now, he loves to sleep so it's not like I have to force him. It's wonderful. Again, I know better then to expect this will happen until he's 2 so I will take it whenever I get it.

Anyone else going to bed at 9pm on a Sat night..

Besides me?

Everyone just left, I'm giving C his last feeding before I hit the sack. He'll stay up for a bit with Daddy and hopefully he'll sleep till about 2. He slept TONS today, but they say "the more a baby sleeps... the more he/she sleeps" (likewise, the less a baby sleeps, the less they sleep) thank god ours is not the latter :)
A few pictures (can you tell I'm a picture junkie?)

And Tim with the gaffer:

Carson is making more and more sounds each day - he's really trying to talk to us (I wish I had a goldfish in my ear to understand what he was saying) so I made a quick little video of him talking.

Video of Carson

This is from a few weeks ago but I was just testing out uploading videos to youtube....

">Shifty Gallant

Last night Mr C slept from about 9:30 till 3:30! I was FLOORED. I kept waking up, worried that I had slept through his cries, but nope... he was out cold. I fed him at 3:30 (back to bed at 4), at 5:30 (back to bed at 6), at 7:30 (back to bed at 8:30), 10:00 (back to bed at 10:30) and he's still sleeping! Each time he woke up I tried to engage him, to see if he would stay awake (well, the times he woke up after 7:30) but he was so tired he kept yawning and would just fall asleep - so now I'm assuming that he just needs to sleep. So, sleep is what he will get.

The playgroup starts at 12:30 today, so if he's awake, we will head over the community center and if he's still sleeping I may just let him sleep.

There is snow here in Ottawa, and alot of it. I think the trip to the Aveda store is delayed and I'll be staying in Riverside South today.
